How to start seeds + build your own Grow Lab

Saturday, February 27th, 10:00-11:30am | $30, Online on Zoom

Want to start your own seedlings this year? It’s cheaper than buying transplants and you can start unusual varieties that you may not find elsewhere. In this workshop, we will guide you through the process and set you up for success. Learn when to start different seeds, how to plant, water, thin, maintain and provide correct lighting.

We’ll also demo how you can make your own grow lab using locally sourced materials. This grow lab is 24” x 20” x 26” and can fit easily on a tabletop or on the floor. It breaks down after use for easy storage in the off-season. This set-up is perfect for use at home or in a classroom.

Extending your harvest with hoop houses + cold frames

Saturday, September 4th, 10-11:30am | $30, Online on Zoom

Whether it’s spring, fall, or winter it’s always nice to have fresh vegetables to eat! Colorado’s 360 days of sun make our area very conducive to year-round gardening. You can start simply by planting earlier in the spring and having protection from our late spring weather fluctuations.

In this workshop, learn about extending the growing season by using an easy-to-build cold frame. We’ll provide detailed instructions and demonstrate how to build a cold frame, so that you can build your own and keep your garden growing all year long. Additional info will be shared about hoop tunnels, another simple way to extend the season. Learn about plant selection, timing, and care of the crops under these covers.
